Chair Yoga participants perform postures and breathing exercises with the aid of a chair. Participants can experience the many benefits of yoga without having to get up or down from the floor. Benefits include increased balance, strength, flexibility, range of motion, and stress reduction.
Family Yoga is designed for yoga to be fun and accessible to members of the family. A variety of physical postures will be introduced, some requiring teamwork from the participants. All ages and levels come together to experience this joyful, fun practice. Grandparents to toddlers and everyone in between are welcome. Start by building poses together with your spouse, your child or your sibling and then ease into some relaxation and rest. All yoga levels welcome.
Gentle Yoga participants move slowly through sun salutations and postures designed to build internal heat slowly and gently. This practice will include a combination of accessible poses, fluid movement, and breath. The poses sequences will gently engage and open all the major muscle groups.
Slow Flow participants will move slowly through sun salutations and postures designed to build internal heat slowly and gently. Meditation and Pranayama (breath work) techniques are taught to promote relaxation. Class includes Restorative Yoga postures which settle the body and mind. Chair yoga participants welcome.
Level 1/Beginner's Vinyasa Flow class is designed for Level 1 or beginning yoga participant who wants to begin their journey of connecting yoga movements. This class introduces foundational yoga postures, teaches you how to breathe, and helps you feel more comfortable in the yoga practice. Although this class moves at a slower pace than other levels vinyasa classes, expect to be challenged both mentally and physically. This is offered on Tuesday/Thursday's at 4pm. This is a warm yoga class.
Yoga Basics (Level 1 & 2) is designed for the new to yoga participant and those who have had some exposure to yoga. This course will offer an introduction to basic yoga poses, proper alignment, use of props, and use of breath with poses.
Mindful Yoga This is an All Level slow flow class. The class will have a theme with a connected meditation and journaling/reflection time provided in class. Guided practice will provide the skills for
- Mindfulness Meditation – Which aims to expand happiness by enhancing self-knowledge and understanding.
- Movement Meditation – Which is a meditation involving physical movements such as yoga, walking, etc...
New to Yoga is designed for those who are just starting their yoga journey or just want to give yoga a try. This class will explore poses through proper alignment and modifications. Sun Salutation A and B will be introduced and reviewed in each class. Poses will move through seated, standing, kneeling, and reclined positions.
Restorative Yin Yoga involves variations of seated and supine poses typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, accessing deeper layers of fascia. This practice focuses on stretching connective tissue around the joints, twists, and seated forward folds supported by the use of props.
Vinyasa Flow embraces a fitness approach to yoga postures. No two classes are alike. Vinyasa flow connects physical postures, or asanas, with inhales and exhales. All yoga levels are welcome. This is a warm yoga class.
Yoga for Teens (Ages 13-18) This class class is designed for any level participant who wants to begin their journey in yoga. This class introduces foundational yoga postures, teaches breath work and it's benefits, and will help the teens feel more comfortable in the yoga practice. A variety of yoga styles will be introduced, along with strong foundational knowledge. This class is taught by the owner, who also has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and works with teens as a certified Illinois classroom teacher.
Wake Up Yoga Flow is a moderate to vigorous vinyasa yoga practice. This class will be full of poses and transitions that will help build strength in your legs, arms, and core, as well as improve flexibility and range of motion. Prior yoga experience is recommended. This is a warm yoga class.
Yin is a deeply relaxing and meditative class offers quiet, stillness, and healing through deep connective tissue restoration. Intense and active long-held stretches will open your body and draw your focus inward while releasing tension and generating an energy flow. Experience the amazing benefits of this slow-paced, calming, and introspective practice. All yoga levels welcome. This is a warm yoga class.
Yoga Fit is designed for the yoga participant who wants to begin their journey of connecting yoga movements with other types of fitness. This class infuses, pilates, yoga Shredd, and BUTI yoga components. Although this class moves at a faster pace than other levels vinyasa classes, expect to be challenged both mentally and physically. Please note: Flow yoga classes tend to be more vigorous and aerobic. This is a warm yoga class.
Workshops & Events
Introduction to Yoga is a 5-week series of classes designed to take away the worries about your first yoga class and make your introduction to yoga an enjoyable experience. You'll learn what yoga is, where it came from, how to start your practice and how it can impact your life. We will practice key poses and Sun Salutations and modification to fit your body and individual practice during these sessions.
Karma Classes are studio's choice of a class. When a class is offered as a Karma Class, it is donation based or free...you choose! We ask that participants still pre-register for Karma Classes, but not to worry, you will not be charged a fee for the class.
Puppy Yoga is gentle yoga with a variety of yoga poses introduced. Puppies will be present and roaming during class. Interaction with the puppies is encouraged throughout the class. Photography is welcome. All yogi levels welcome. Please note this is a special event: If you cannot attend you must cancel your session 24 hours in advance for a refund. No shows will be charged the full class fee.
wineDown Wednesday's is offered every third Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise noted on the schedule. It will include a 30 to 40-minutes of a beginning level gentle and restorative yoga practice. We will then gather as a community, where all participants are invited to join us at It's All About Wine where we will have at least two choices of wine to sample or your choice of non-alcoholic beverage. This is intended to be a fun event where we can get to know one another off the mat.
